About Us
Building maintenance is more than a job. It’s more than ten jobs. While most people can say “I’m a plumber” (or electrician, mechanic, truck driver, programmer…) if you say “I’m a facility maintenance technician” the usual answer is “Oh. You’re a handyman.” And while we like to think our guys are very handy to have around, they are so much more! To the uninitiated, it may seem simple, but those who work in commercial, and especially medical office facility management, are well aware the requirements are so much more complex and technical than can be covered by your average ‘handyman’.
So to hire one individual with the ability to be a plumber, carpenter, electrician, mechanical engineer, roofer, HVAC technician, and more is quite a challenge. Then you add in the ability to please and interact well with multiple bosses: BPBM, the property manager AND the tenants. Then we demand that our techs are methodical, (so as not to skip a step), safety conscious, (we don’t provide all that equipment for them to look pretty!), self motivated & efficient, (no time for dallying), creative (to find solutions to unique problems), focused, (to stay on task with a multitude of distractions), professional, (no fraternizing, HIPPA compliant, culturally and politically correct), and you can begin to see why we only hire less than one of every 200 who apply.
